“I’m aware of personal conflicts among people….I don’t really consider myself in that category and don’t feel that I need to read on the subject or enroll in a course on it.”
This was essentially my attitude even though I personally experienced times when personal relationships were not always where they should be. I tried to justify that “we’re just human” and that certain situations will just go away.
The problem arises when it doesn’t go away and it begins to gnaw at you and one begins to get affected emotionally over various issues involving personal relationships.
I was introduced to and read Ken Sande’s book on The Peacemaker: A Biblical Guide to Resolving Personal Conflict and was very impressed by its contents and references to the Bible. It opened up a whole new world to my attitude and how I might be better able to resolve issues, whether related to business or of a personal nature. I later enrolled in a 12-week Bible study on the same subject, led by KC and Ron Dierenfield of Mission Hills Church. The study was very worthwhile and it was an excellent follow-up to Ken Sande’s book.
KC and Ron led the study group by following the chapters in Ken’s book and they showed DVDs which provided a unique approach to resolving conflict. This approach is based on God’s Word, offers many biblical references, and also offers four basic principles to resolving conflict. One learns of the “divine weapons” to use in our quest for peace, the “very weapons Christ used to defeat Satan” as opposed to resorting to “worldly weapons” and thus prolonging conflict.
KC and Ron possess strong teaching skills and knowledge on conflict resolution and have an easy way of conducting the study group in order to gain audience participation.
I strongly recommend people with an interest in this subject to contact KC or Ron for counseling or a Bible study course.
